Depression is treatable

Being sad is not the same as being depressed. Sadness is a normal emotion that we all experience at some point in our lives; it is transient and does not require treatment. Depression, on the other hand, affects mood by causing deep, persistent, and disproportionate sadness that lasts more than two weeks and has no discernible cause. Other symptoms, such as fatigue, loss of interest and pleasure in previously pleasurable activities, decreased attention, weight loss, and difficulty sleeping, may be present. Depressive disorders can be treated. If you have symptoms that suggest you may be depressed, seek professional help .
